Dye Garden – The Colors of Nature

Natural plant dyes offer an environmentally friendly alternative to modern chemical dyes. For thousands of years, plants were the main source of colors for clothing. The Dye Garden showcases historically important and native dye and fiber plants. The Dye Garden is located at the east end of the garden, near the shed. Dye Plants can also be found in Row 4 of the Medicinal Plant Garden.

The Dye Garden was founded by Mary Anne Jordan, Professor of Visual Arts at KU and has been supported by the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund.
