The discovery of cytotoxity in a cardiac glycoside present in Asclepias species has led to the publication of three research papers, led by Juan Araya, who was a graduate student in the Medicinal Chemistry lab of Barbara Timmermann at the University of Kansas. Dr. Araya now continues his research as a Professor at the University of Costa Rica.
