We’ve just returned from three days of monitoring Echinacea angustifolia populations in the area of Hays, Kansas. Our goal, in part, was to test a model we created using GIS mapping to predict where the plant would occur. Based on our data, we’ll analyze the effectiveness of our model. This plant, according to the ethnobotanical record, was the one most widely used among Plains tribes for medicinal purposes.
